  • What is the minimum age to be certified in CPR or First aid?
    AHA general rule is 12 years of age or older to receive certification.
  • Who can signup for an upcoming class?
    All available upcoming classes are open to anyone 12+. The classes are taught in Pascagoula Mississippi and students are required to travel to that class location to attend.
  • How long is my CPR certification good for?
    CPR certifications are good for 2 years and you should receive a refresher course prior to the expiration of your card.
  • How long does a CPR class take to complete?
    Classes vary depending on size of class and location. Upcoming classes have a time guide in the description for the scheduled class. If you are looking to book a private class, below you will find a general guide to our different offered classes. • BLS provider CPR takes around 3 hours to complete. • Heartsaver CPR / AED around 1 1/2 hours to complete and with optional sections adds an additional 1 1/2 hours. • Heartsaver First Aid around 2 hours to complete. • Heartsaver Total First-aid / CPR/ AED takes around 5 hours to complete. • Heartsaver Pediatric CPR/ AED take about 2 hours to complete and with optional sections adds an additional 1 1/2 hours. • Heartsaver Pediatric First-aid takes around 3 hours to complete. • Heartsaver Pediatric Total First-aid / CPR/ AED takes around 6 hours to complete. • Heartsaver Blood Borne Pathogens takes around 1 hour to complete. • NARCAN Awareness takes around 1 1/2 hours to complete *** All times are subject to changed based on size of class, involvement, etc.***
  • How do I receive my CPR Certification?
    Your CPR class AHA certification card will be emailed to you shortly after course completion. *In rare cases, cards can take up to 1 week to be delivered.
  • What is the minimum students needed to request a class?
    Southern Lifeline requires a minimum of 2 students for some of our classes. For more information, contact us and we can assist you further.
  • What is your booking and cancelation policy?
    Booking Policy: All class bookings must be made online through our website. A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your spot. You will receive a confirmation email with class details upon successful registration. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24 hours, please contact us. The remaining balance must be paid at the time of the class. Cancellation and Refund Policy: Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled class will receive a full refund of deposit. Cancellations made within 12-24 hours of the class will receive a 50% refund of deposit. Cancellations made less than 12 hours before the class or failure to attend, deposit is non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance to move your booking to a later date at no additional cost. Rescheduling requests made within 24 hours of the class may be subject to a rescheduling fee. In the rare event that we must cancel a class due to unforeseen circumstances, you will be offered a full refund of deposit or the option to reschedule at no additional cost.   • What is the AHA’s 2020 BLS Provider Course?
    The AHA’s BLS Provider Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. This course teaches basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings, with a focus on high-quality CPR, improvement of chest compression fraction, and high-performing team dynamics. The BLS Provider Course teaches rescue techniques for adults, children, and infants.
  • What specifically is taught in the BLS Provider Course?
    In the 2020 BLS Provider Course, students will learn and practice • High-quality BLS for adults, children, and infants • Use of an AED • Effective ventilation using a barrier device • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for adults, children, and infants • High-performance teams
  • Who is the intended audience for the BLS Provider Course?
    The AHA’s BLS Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings or for those in a healthcare training program.
  • What is the AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course?
    Reflecting the latest science and education from the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), the AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course provide students the highest quality training in the lifesaving skills of first aid and/or CPR and use of an AED. These courses empower students to act with confidence in the event of an emergency at work, home, or in the community.
  • What will students learn in the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course?
    After successfully completing this course, students should be able to CPR AED • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival • Explain the concept of the Chain of Survival • Recognize when someone needs CPR • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others • Demonstrate giving effective breaths by using mouth to mouth or a mask for all ages • Demonstrate performing high-quality CPR for an adult, a child, and an infant • Demonstrate using an AED on an adult and on a child • Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant First Aid • List the priorities, roles, and responsibilities of first aid rescuers • Describe the key steps in first aid • Demonstrate removing protective gloves • Demonstrate finding the problem • Describe the assessment and first aid actions for these life-threatening conditions: heart attack, difficulty breathing, choking, severe bleeding, shock, and stroke • Describe when and how to help a choking adult, child, or infant • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant • Demonstrate how to use an epinephrine pen • Demonstrate how to control bleeding and apply bandaging • Recognize elements of common illnesses and injuries • Describe the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle and the risks of smoking and vaping • Describe how to find information on preventing illness and injury • Recognize the legal questions that apply to first aid rescuers ** NOTE: Course objectives vary based on the course topics taught. **
  • Who is the intended audience for Heartsaver courses?
    The AHA’s Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs first aid and/or CPR training and a course completion card for job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other regulatory or licensing requirements. Heartsaver courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared to act in an emergency.
  • What is the AHA’s Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course?
    Reflecting the latest science and education from the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC), the AHA’s Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course provides students the highest quality training in the lifesaving skills of first aid and/or CPR and use of an AED, with emphasis on emergencies that occur with children and infants. These courses empower students to act with confidence in the event of an emergency at work, home, or in the community.
  • What will students learn in the Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course?

  • Who is the intended audience for the Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course?
    Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED is intended for those involved in childcare who have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This audience includes childcare workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, youth organizations, and coaches for children’s sports organizations. This course is also ideal for parents, grandparents, extended family, babysitters, and guardians.
  • What is the Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) Course?
    The AHA's Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens course teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction.
  • Specifically, what content is taught in the Heartsaver BBP Course?
    The Heartsaver BBP Course uses the PACT acronym (Protect, Act, Clean, Tell) and slogan, “Make a PACT, Know How to Act,” to help students learn and easily recall bloodborne pathogens training. After successfully completing this course, students will be able to: • Explain the importance of taking the Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course • Define bloodborne pathogens • Describe the four main steps for staying safe when facing an occupational exposure • Discuss how universal precautions, personal protective equipment, and handwashing can protect them from infection • Recognize warning signs and labels for biohazards • Recall how to safely remove gloves • Discuss how to dispose of sharps and other blood-containing items • Identify the types of spills and methods to clean them • Discuss their exposure control plan
  • Who is the target audience for the Heartsaver BBP Course?
    The Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens Course was designed specifically for workers with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens such as correctional officers, childcare workers, security guards, maintenance workers, school personnel, hotel housekeepers, health and fitness club staff, and tattoo artists.
  • What is the NARCAN Awareness course?
    With opioid overdose rising exponentially over the past few years, MS laws are about to allow NARCAN to be purchased over the counter. This course is designed to teach you how to recognize the signs of an overdose, teach you the proper way to administer NARCAN, and how to care for the patient after administering NARCAN.
  • What specifically is taught in the NARCAN Awareness course?
    After successfully completing this course, students should be able to • Define types of Opioids. • Describe what NARCAN is and how it works in the body. • Describe the “FIVE ESSENTIAL STEPS” process. • Demonstrate the proper way to administer NARCAN. • Describe the risk associated with administering NARCAN. • Recognize what liability protections protect you when using NARCAN. • Describe how to safely store NARCAN.
  • Who is the target audience for the NARCAN Awareness class?
    This course is designed for anyone with or without medical training who could come in contact with a potential opioid overdose victim. This course is easy to follow and can be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared to act in an emergency.
